Our client, an international management consultancy, is looking for a total of three experienced Technical Procurement Managers (m/f/d) ad interim to optimize central procurement activities in the categories of electronics, equipment, and mechanical components at a company in the defense industry.


Note: This project is part of a tender. The actual assignment depends on whether our client is awarded the contract for the project. Due to the tender process, the decision may take longer. Information on duration and availability is for initial guidance only and will be finalized in personal discussions with the client.


Main tasks:

  • Sustainable improvement of procurement processes, strengthening the supply chain, and ensuring international standards
  • Optimizing technical purchasing in the three following areas
    • a) Electronics (components, circuit boards, assemblies, sensor technology)
    • b) Equipment (e.g., optical systems, mechanical subsystems, drone components)
    • c) Mechanical/structural parts (e.g., welded and bent parts, cast parts, 3D printing)

  • Supporting sourcing activities, preparing technical requirement documentation, and coordinating with internal stakeholders (especially engineering) and external suppliers
  • Analyzing and evaluating technical requirements and standards in accordance with international standards (MIL, NATO, etc.)
  • Planning, organizing, and supporting extensive tendering processes
  • Preparing for implementation and actively supporting negotiations with suppliers

Requirements & Expertise

Requirements

  • Many years of experience in technical purchasing in the defense industry
  • Proven expertise in procurement engineering and category management in at least one of the product groups mentioned
    • a) Electronics (Electronic components, PCBs, PCB assemblies, sensors detectors, etc.)
    • b) Equipment (Optical systems, ballistic subsystems, mechanical assemblies, drone motors, etc.)
    • c) Mechanical and structural parts (welded, bended, assemblies, castings, 3d printing, etc.)

  • Understanding of technical aspects of parts and requirements within the defense industry according to international standards (e.g, MIL, NATO)
  • Substantial experience in planning and conducting tenders and in subsequent negotiations
  • Knowledge of relevant international standards (e.g., MIL, NATO) and their implementation in procurement
